RESPONSIBILITIES OF CAMPAIGN COUNSEL

Active day-to-day management – Counsel ‘drives the campaign process’ and assures that every aspect of the campaign is conducted in a timely and professional manner.

Develop a comprehensive campaign plan – Based on expertise and experience, a campaign plan that is best for each unique church is recommended.

Recruitment and solicitation training – Counsel conducts all volunteer and gift solicitation training, providing appropriate written training guides.

Write campaign materials including brochure and case statement – ‘driving the process’ includes making sure that publicity is conducted in an appropriate and professional manner and that communication to church members is effective and relevant.

Coordinate selection of campaign leadership – Counsel lends experience to the selection and identification of campaign leaders who can be most effective in a particular volunteer role. A successful campaign requires leadership beyond ‘the usual suspects’ and the identification and selection of these leaders is crucial.

Identify and segment prospective donors – by effectively managing the database and working with the Pastor and parish leaders, prospective donors and campaign leaders are identified and segmented into groups. Segmented groups make it possible for volunteers to manage their workload and maintain organization within large complex campaigns.

Organize all committees and direct their activities – Counsel works with Pastor to identify committee members and assure they are confident and educated about their roles and responsibilities. This is done via organized volunteer meetings, and written materials.

Prepare pulpit announcements and detailed agendas for speakers – Counsel evaluates status of campaign and submits written pulpit announcements to Pastor and campaign leaders assuring that important campaign news is related to the parish in a concise and informative manner.

When desirable, solicit or assist in the solicitation of gift prospects – When appropriate, Counsel assists in the solicitation of gift prospects. Solicitations are most effective when conducted by an internal member whose presence and participation lends credibility to support of a given project. It is, however, appropriate and often helpful for Counsel to assist with such visits – particularly at the beginning of the campaign – until leaders are comfortable with the presentation and manner in which solicitations are conducted.

Prepare all publicity and public relations activities – Counsel evaluates appropriate channels of publicity and assures that volunteer committees are trained and equipped to implement an organized public relations effort.

Establish and monitor pledge redemption system – System of pledge redemption is established and monitored by Counsel to assure effective communication and collection process.
