fundraising for all type of churches COSTS As a general rule, the costs for a capital campaign for a church should not exceed $50,000 - $60,000 for the entire campaign. While there are exceptions, this cost should include all printing, postage, research, mailing costs, etc. as well as cost associated with a professional consultant. This cost can be significantly lower for smaller churches and may be somewhat higher for very large churches. Generally speaking, costs for a church campaign are considerably lower than for a campaign for a non-church non-profit. This is mostly because the prospects are known for a church campaign (church members), but must often be identified, researched, cultivated, educated and solicited for a non-church capital campaign. Consultants generally charge on a time basis, thereby increasing costs for larger churches and reducing costs for smaller churches. Capital Quest proposes fees and costs based on the totality of the campaign, not on the number of weeks or months a campaign takes. As such, our fees do not rise if the campaign takes longer to complete. In addition to consulting fees, church campaigns will require printing costs, including brochures, pulpit announcements, bulletin inserts, etc. These costs are almost always paid directly by the church, using their vendors. There should be no mark-up of these expenses. With these costs in mind, the percentage of funds raised going toward fund raising costs should be less than five percent - a very respectable cost of fund raising. |
